Privacy policy

This policy explains what information the Hydroponic Venture Project (“HVP,” “we,” “us”) collects through this website, how we use it, and what choices you have. It applies only to hvp-website.vercel.app and any future domain we host the site at. It does not cover data HVP collects offline through partner schools, classroom programs, or events, which is governed by agreements between HVP and the school.
What we collect
When you submit a contact form, we collect the information you provide: name, email address, optional organization or school name, and the content of your message.
When you donate, we do not see or store your payment card details. Donations are processed by Stripe, which collects the details required to complete the transaction. Stripe shares with us your name, email, the donation amount, and (for recurring donations) billing cycle.
Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) are collected by our hosting provider, Vercel, to operate the site and detect abuse. We do not use analytics tools that track individuals across sites, and we do not use advertising cookies.
How we use it
Contact form submissions are used to respond to your message and to follow up if you ask us to. Donation details are used to acknowledge your gift, send a tax receipt, and report impact to our donors.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the website, and only to the extent needed to deliver the service. These include:
- Stripe (payment processing for donations)
- Resend (sending email notifications of form submissions)
- Notion (storing form submissions in a team database)
- Vercel (website hosting and server logs)
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and handles data under standard industry safeguards. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of students, staff, or the public.
Your rights
You can ask us to confirm what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. To make a request, email hydroponicventure@gmail.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are a resident of California, Illinois, or a jurisdiction with additional privacy rights, your rights under those laws continue to apply.
Children
The website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site. HVP works with students in classroom settings through partner schools; any data related to those students is collected and held by the schools, not through this website.
Cookies
The website uses only the cookies strictly necessary to operate (for example, session and security cookies set by Stripe during donation checkout). We do not set advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site starts collecting new information or integrating new services. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
